Biocoal pellets provide superior performance compared to conventional wood pellets, making them the fuel of choice in existing coal-fired facilities.

• Biocoals unique properties allow it to be easily integrated into existing systems for handling storing and grinding coal, without major changes or expensive conversion.
• Torrefied pellets are weather resistant allowing them to be stored outside in a pile where they can withstand the elements whereas wood pellets easily deteriorate under wet conditions.
• Wood pellets are difficult to grind and require the addition of specially designed grinding and handling systems while biocoal is easily friable.

A 100% natural and organic soil amendment

Biochar is a fine-grained, highly porous charcoal produced through the torrefaction of sawmill waste, forestland biomass or agricultural residues.  The use of charcoal to improve soils has been part of soil management practices for centuries as charcoal is found in soils around the world as a result of vegetation fires as well as traditional agricultural practices. It has led to the creation of the dark, nutrient rich terra preta ("black earth") soils of the Brazilian Amazon which differ markedly from adjacent soils, in terms of higher fertility and carbon content.

Biomass feedstock in Canada is certified

The biomass used by Airex Energy originates from Canada, which has the largest area of third-party-certified forests in the world. According to National Resources Canada, as of the end of 2016, Canada had 168 million hectares of independently certified forest land, representing 37% of all certified forests worldwide. Third-party forest management certification complements Canadas comprehensive and rigorous forest management laws and regulations. It provides added assurance that a forest company is operating legally, sustainably and in compliance with world-recognized standards for sustainable forest management.
