Shell to Boost Nigerian Crude Oil Output

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) Limited announced that Nigeria’s crude oil output is set to see big boost, with its 225,000 barrels per day Bonga Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel set to begin production soon. The maintenance works have been completed, the company said in a recent statement. It must be noted that the FPSO vessel was shut for maintenance on 18^th October, 2022.

According to Abimbola Essien-Nelson, Media Relations Manager, the turn around maintenance on Bonga was initially expected to be completed in nearly one month, but the company has successfully completed it in 22 days, well ahead of schedule. The successful completion of the project would lift the oil and gas production in the coming days. The start-up activities are already in progress, Nelson said.

The Nigerian crude oil production has been witnessing significant decline during recent times, falling to an all-time low of 900,000 bpd recently. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) had blamed crude oil theft for the low production. The theft-related incidents had led to shutdown of as many as nine crude oil terminal, which in turn resulted in loss of N415 billion to the country’s economy.
