SmartestEnergy was launched in 2001 to take advantage of opportunities from the newly deregulated energy market in Great Britain.

Our founding aim was to enable access for smaller embedded generators to the electricity market. We have since grown to become Great Britains’s leading consolidator for the independent generation sector.

The combined capacity of our generation sites is 2426W - the largest aggregated portfolio of energy generated by the independent sector in Great Britain.

Our retail business was established in 2008 to provide the first flexible renewable supply service for business and public sector customers in Great Britain.

Since our first customer, Barnardo's, signed up we have rapidly expanded our market share and now supply some of Great Britain’s leading names with both renewable and traditional electricity.

In November 2011, we celebrated our 10 year anniversary and a successful decade in the energy industry. It has been an exciting journey which has taken us from new entrant in the industry to a leader in our field.

SmartestEnergy currently has over 150 staff, operating from premises in central London, Ipswich and Glasgow. We also have a number of Business Development Managers strategically located through the UK providing customers with on-the-ground support.
