Mississippi Power is committed to providing affordable, reliable electricity to the 23 counties of Southeast Mississippi. In addition, as leaders in the areas served and through our foundation, we provide support for the wellness of our communities including energy efficiency, economic development and environmental stewardship.Founded on December 31, 1924, Mississippi Power serves more than 186,000 customers across the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the Pine Belt, and Meridian. Our mission is to deliver world-class value to our customers and communities every day.At Mississippi Power, we take generating and delivering reliable, affordable energy seriously. We consider a range of energy sources to balance energy supply with our growing customer demand. Our energy resource plan is updated and approved by the Mississippi Public Service Commission. The Kemper County energy facility is a great example of how we're taking technology — gasification — and combining it with an abundant Mississippi resource — lignite — to provide affordable electricity for generations to come. We have also recently worked with area partners to begin the development of three separate solar farms across south Mississippi, which makes Mississippi Power the largest provider of solar energy in the state.

Mississippi Power takes its responsibility to protect the environment seriously. We have a strong record meeting or doing better than standards set by state and federal environmental agencies. Efforts through our nationally recognized Renew Our Rivers volunteer program have removed more than 300 tons of debris from southeast Mississippi waterways. Environmental stewardship is good business.We provide experience and superior customer satisfaction from the longest continuously operating economic development department in Mississippi. Our team knows the region and the people. We work closely with companies in their site-selection process, as well as helping existing companies expand.
