GHK is a private, Oklahoma City-based natural gas and oil company. Founded in 1959, GHK was named for its three founders: Laurence Glover, Robert A. Hefner III and David O’D. Kennedy. Hefner initiated the partnership, led the growth of the organization, and today is sole owner. He continues as the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
The GHK group of companies currently include: GHK Royalty, GHK Exploration, Glebe Royalty and ORRI Inc.
GHK pioneered the exploration and development of natural gas in the deep Anadarko Basin of Western Oklahoma. More recent activities included the discovery and development of the Potato Hills field beginning in 1988 that has subsequently produced more than 300 BCF of gas. In 2007, GHK discovered and developed the horizontal Tonkawa play in Western Oklahoma, drilling seven successful horizontal wells. GHK joined with Cordillera Energy Partners III in 2009 and participated in the drilling of more than 150 additional wells. GHK participated in Cordillera's $2.85B sale to Apache Corporation in April 2012, selling virtually all of its operated and non-operated working interests.
Our principal activities today are the purchase of mineral rights and royalties in North America's most active oil and gas plays.
