Rock Oil Company, LLC was founded in 2010 with the goal of acquiring, developing and monetizing assets in repeatable, unconventional oil and/or gas basins. Our strategy is to identify assets where the application of our land and technical expertise can generate competitive returns.

Rock Oils acquisition portfolio may include producing properties, farm-ins and direct lease acquisition, as our flexible capital structure allows us to consider a wide range of oil and gas opportunities with respect to size and structure. Once we acquire an asset our goal is collapse our investment cycle by accelerating drilling to the maximum extent practical.Our management has been successful as both an operated owner and a non-operated owner and we will continue to pursue both operated and non-operated opportunities.

The first Rock Oil was formed in August 2010 with $84 million in capital committed  by  Energy Trust Partners, BNP Paribas, Wells Fargo and management. Rock Oil Partnered with Abraxas Petroleum Corporation, a publicly traded company based in San Antonio, TX and began acquiring and developing oil and gas properties in the Eagle Ford play of South Texas. After the venture acquired over 12,000 acres and drilled 16 wells, Rock Oil and Abraxas exited that investment with Rock Oil selling its 75% interest in two transactions. Rocks share of the DeWitt County property sale to Sabine Oil and Gas was $60 million and its McMullen County property sale to Sanchez Energy Corporations was $231 million.
