Grand Traverse Diesel Service Inc. was incorporated in 1986 and moved to its current location in 1993. In 1998 we became a Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star Parts Service and Warranty dealer. As a dealer, we have become certified in Detroit Diesel engines (including the new DD15 family), Cummins engine and Allison Transmissions.  Dan Walters, owner, is often heard saying, “Service is what we have that makes us different from our competitors”.

Grand Traverse Diesel Service has been proudly owned and operated in Traverse City by Dan and Sue Walters since 1986. They are Northern Michigan’s premier and authorized service center for widely recognized truck manufacturer’s such as Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star. They are also certified to service Cummins and Detroit diesel engines, Allison transmissions and all Thermo King product lines. Grand Traverse Diesel Service stocks a wide range of parts for most service needs and if they don’t have it in stock, they can usually get it within 24 hours. They have a 15,000 square foot shop with multiple bays to accommodate all makes and models of trucks and motor homes.

Grand Traverse Diesel Service is OEM certified to supply warranty repairs on Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star units and Detroit Diesel and Cummins engines. Technicians are factory trained and certified in 2010 product.  We will work on any vehicle over 10,000gvw. Our service department has two service trucks available 24 hours for you assistance.  We also offer a full range of parts for all makes we service. Need it the next day? We can drop ship from the factory if we don’t have it in stock.
