When it comes to CNG stations, we don’t just build them. We design them and maintain them so we know what works. Our team has supported the construction of more than 180 CNG stations across the U.S.—for both private fleets and public access stations.  InsightFuel has an experienced core team able to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously. Depending on your project needs and location, we can perform the role of general contractor, mechanical contractor, electrical contractor, or specialty subcontractor (interconnect piping materials).

InsightFuel was formed by combining the leadership teams from four established businesses that are focused on growing the natural gas market for transportation and energy. Our mission is driven by the need to reduce smog-forming emissions from the transportation sector so that we can restore healthful air to the 125 million Americans living in regions with air that the federal Clean Air Act deems unsafe to breathe. We also recognize the need for the U.S. to aggressively reduce its greenhouse gas emissions as a means to combat global climate change.  Our leadership team’s knowledge and experience really provide a backbone for us to succeed in our mission. Bob has developed a network of CNG fueling stations around his transportable plug-and-play station platform. Jeff’s background as former CEO of SSP contributes to him continuing to create new strategies for the alternative fuel industry. Kevin’s history with industrial automation and portable power, combined with his experience as General Manager of AFV, made him the perfect candidate to step into the role of Associate Director.  While we are dedicated to making a big impact, we are not looking to make a big splash. So you won’t see our name on the canopy or in the headlines. We want to be the guys behind the scenes helping make the project or product successful and profitable for the owner, operator, or OEM. We can slot ourselves into our industry’s supply chain anywhere from being a supplier of parts we know work optimally because we use them ourselves, to a partner in a build project helping get grant applications, permits, and providing efficient project management. And everything in between.

InsightFuel is solely focused on building natural gas fueling infrastructure and solutions. Our team’s high-level of specialization has enabled us to develop standard engineering practices and designs that reduce errors, installation time, and cost, including:

• Before starting a project, we interface with the engineers to ensure that the piping specification and mechanical piping and instrumentation diagrams are current and complete. Using the project plan, we create a take-off and bill of materials that identifies the piping materials and job site tooling that will be necessary to complete the build, which translates to only buying exactly what is needed.
• In order to minimize our on-site installation time, we carefully measure and document the job site so that we can pre-fabricate and assemble as much equipment as possible in our manufacturing/assembly shop environment. This time-saving approach has worked well for a range of materials, including interconnect piping, electrical enclosures, time fill post assemblies, and more.
• Because we specialize in CNG station construction, we have a full set of tools that enable us to save time on a job site without compromising safety. 
• Once the new assembly of gas piping and tubing is complete, we perform and certify the station. While we do both traditional pneumatic testing, we recommend hydrostatic testing —especially on larger systems and ones which involved third-party contractors. We have proven this testing method to be safer than pneumatic testing at high pressures, as well as more convenient and cost effective. Following hydrostatic testing, we draw vacuum on the tubing to ensure the moisture we introduced is completely removed before completing installation.
