Our Name

Pronounced “HEK-uh-tee”… Hecate Energys focus echoes the Greek goddess of the crossroads who ruled over the earth, sea, and sky.  Our name and logo reflects our mission of developing power generation resources at the crossroads of traditional options and emerging technologies; it also reflects the “circular trust” shared by communities, utilities and developers when a power project respects its people - and their resources.

History

The Hecate Energy leadership team has successfully executed dozens of development projects and acquisitions; operated fleets of power plants; and generated thousands of megawatts from solar, natural gas, wind, oil-fired, coal-fired and hydro-power plants. Hecate Energys talent includes seasoned technical, engineering, marketing, financial and statistical experts--with many possessing ten to 30 years in the power industry.  Encompassing decades of experience, Hecate Energys management team previously built Americas fourth largest solar company as measured by MW under contract, leading the partnership for the 400 MW solar PPA with CPS Energy of San Antonio, Texas--the largest municipal solar development in the United States.  Additionally, Hecate Energys management team oversaw development of Mystic 8, Mystic 9, and Fore River (combined-cycle) power plants in the Boston area, totaling 2,400 MW.  This group also developed and sold a pipeline of over 130 MW of solar PV projects, ranging in size from 3 MW to 20 MW across the northeastern United States.
