Heaps Oil Co., Inc., located since 1904 at 4609 Green Marble Road, Whiteford was originally owned by Mr. Nelson Heaps, uncle to Mr. Marshall T. Heaps Jr. Mr. Nelson Heaps sold the business to his daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and J.M. Wheeler in 1946. The business name was changed for a short time to J.M. Wheeler Oil Co. In May of 1964, Mr. & Mrs. J.M. Nelson sold the business to Mrs. Nelsons cousin, Marshall T. Heaps, Jr. The J.M. Wheeler Oil Company name returned to its original name, Heaps Oil Company, Inc.

In 1978, Marshalls son Scott joined the business, driving an oil truck for his father. Marshall retired in 1995, leaving his son Scott, to manage and run the business. Marshall Heaps died in 2007. Scott has been President of the company for over 20 years, 38 years in the business. Marshalls wife, Ann still owns the company.  The business still occupies the same structure it did back in 1904. A beautiful stone building typical of the area and similar to the Welsh quarrymans homes built in the 1800s.  Scotts business goal is to achieve the same quality of excellent service to the community that has been done for over 11 decades. Heaps Oil Co. provides heating oil, diesel, gasoline, and kerosene. It also provides automatic delivery, will calls and emergency services while also offering fuels at competitive prices. Budget payments are also available.  Scott feels that the dedicated staff he and his father have hired over the years are the reason for much of their success. Today, his dedicated staff includes his wife and secretary, Margie, his long-time friend and manager, Larry (40 +yrs. of service to Heaps Oil) and drivers, Bill, Barry and John.
