OUR HISTORY

STAR Energy Services LLC is based in Alexandria, MN, with a branch office in La Crosse, WI. The company was formed in 1997 to provide electrical engineering services and operational support to rural electric utilities. We have grown steadily from one employee in 1998 to a group that now includes over 35. Many employees are based in the client offices, which enhances our understanding of utility needs and challenges.

 OUR LOGO

"STAR" is an acronym that is a legacy from an earlier organization that was STARs predecessor – STAR Services Federation. The federation was formed by Stearns Electric Association, Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative, Agralite Cooperative, and Runestone Electric Association in 1982. The federations original purpose was to facilitate joint procurement of power line construction material. This evolved when Stearns chose to leave the group and the remaining three contracted jointly for electrical engineering services from an independent consulting firm. In 1997, STAR Energy Services LLC was formed. The logo reflects the retention of the STAR acronym. An orbit of planets revolving around a central star communicates the close working relationship between our clients. The planets orbiting a star form an overall working system – a solar system.
