The traditional biodiesel model has entailed the creation of central processing hubs with new and used oils from surrounding areas transported to them and then processed. However, the costs can be prohibitive, as any large production plant is expensive to build and necessitates transport costs to bring in waste oil and deliver recycled biodiesel.  Larger biofuel plants also often fail because they cannot secure a reliable supply of feedstock to convert to biofuels. However, community-scale biofuel production enables farmers, entrepreneurs and established companies to start on a small scale and easily increase production as more oil is secured.  The decentralised model of Green Fuels technology is ideal for appropriately scaled production like this, bringing the plant right to the source of waste oil, or to the communities or facilities that will use the recycled biofuel. Transport costs are minimised and, as Green Fuels technology is fully scalable, operators can upscale as their needs evolve.

  Producing 85% less CO2 and generating fewer emissions such as sulphur, hydrocarbons and particulates, biodiesel offers a sustainable, renewable alternative to fossil fuel. Biodiesel also helps to solve the growing problem of how to dispose of used cooking oil safely, ensuring that used oil is recycled into fuel rather than poured into drainage systems or put back into the food chain.  Biofuels from waste oils do not compete with food crops and also allow for the use of non-food, oil-yielding crops such as camelina and jatropha to produce high-value fuels for use in communities.
