Pickrell Drilling Company, Inc., a Kansas oil and gas exploration and production company was formed in 1948 by Lloyd Pickrell (Top), Carl Sebits (Middle) and Cecil Burton (Bottom) with the price of oil at $2.58 per barrel. Pickrell was among the earliest explorers and producers in the prolific Spivey Grabs Field in Kingman and Harper Counties, Kansas. Pickrell started with one rotary drilling rig in its first year of business and added a second rotary drilling rig the next year. Pickrell still owns and operates two drilling rigs. Pickrell’s principal office is in Wichita with field offices in Kingman, Great Bend, and Ness City, Kansas. Pickrell has three associated companies known as Mobile Drilling Company, Inc. a well servicing company with cable tools and the ability to drill out and deepen wells, Central Dirt Service, Inc. an oilfield dirt service contractor, and Pickrell Acquisitions, Inc. a company formed to acquire producing oil and gas properties and exploration prospects. Pickrell’s current management team consists of Trent Sebits, Board Chair; Steve M. Dillard, CPL, President and Land Manager; Gene Reif, CPA, Vice-President/Treasurer; Dave Pauly, Engineer; Larry Richardson, Chief Geologist; Aaron Young, Geologist; and Rich Johnson, HR.
