AEE Solar Inc

AEE Solar was founded in 1979 as Alternative Energy Engineering in rural Redway, California. Long-time solar pioneer and enthusiast David Katz launched the business from his home and produced the first Solar Design Guide and Catalog in 1981.  The company expanded, specializing in providing off-grid equipment to homeowners seeking energy independence and reaching $8M in sales in 2002.  Mainstream Energy invested in AEE Solar in 2005, providing additional resources and expertise. To accommodate the growing demand for renewable energy, AEE Solar moved its headquarters to Sacramento, California and opened an 80,000 sq. ft. distribution center in 2012.  After additional years of continued growth, AEE Solar was acquired by Sunrun in 2014.
