Lackawanna Energy Center, LLC

With its state-of-the-art technology, the 1,480 megawatt Lackawanna Energy Center will be one of the most efficient power plants in the United States.  Equipped with GE’s latest technology, it will use less fuel and generate fewer emissions. Our energy center will feature best-in-class equipment: three gas-powered turbines, three heat recovery steam generators, and a steam turbine.  As a combined  cycle facility, it will maximize usage of the heat from natural gas as fuel, increasing efficiency.  The facility will be compact and low impact and far more advanced than earlier generations of natural gas plants.

BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE  

This facility will employ upwards of 800 skilled craft laborers during the 2+ year construction period which recently commenced. Once in operation, the Lackawanna Energy Center will have approximately 30 permanent, well-paying jobs with an annual payroll of $3.5 – $4 million. Typical jobs positions at the facility include Plant Manager, Plant Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Operator, and Administrative Assistant. Invenergy prefers to hire locally and train employees.  In addition to generating local, well-paying jobs, the plant will create millions in new community revenue. These are funds that can lower property taxes, strengthen Valley View schools, and benefit police, fire, and local nonprofits.  Between new jobs and local investment, the Lackawanna Energy Center will help to unlock a brighter future for Jessup and the Lackawanna Valley.
