Biogas is obtained from the exploitation of residues from livestock (slurry, manure and feed leftovers), food production (fruit and vegetable leftovers, remnants of meat, fish and milk processing, leftovers from beer manufacturing, food scraps, etc.) and from waste water from industrial and municipal purifiers. By building biogas plants, agriculture makes an important contribution to the distribution of energy produced from renewable sources and to the disposal of organic waste. By-product of biogas production are digestates, which can in turn be used as a high-quality fertilizer.

From an economic and ecological point of view, the application of the decree on recycling and waste management is fully achieved with the construction of rural plants for the treatment of biogas.
