Las Palmas Oil & Dehydration

Las Palmas Oil & Dehydration commenced business on February 1, 1994.  The facility was formerly Sabre Refining and with the retirement of the company president, Douglas Johnson, changed ownership.  The current owner, Michael Porter, worked for Sabre since 1986.  The current company president is Bryan Porter who has been with Las Palmas Oil since 1997. To the best of our knowledge Las Palmas Oil is the only facility in the state that dehydrates wet or off spec. petroleum that does not accept waste streams. The site also contains a crude oil distillation refinery. In 1980 it was built by Flour Engineers & Constructors for Sabre Refining, This unit has the capacity to refine 25,000 barrels a day. 

Services

Located in Kern County Las Palmas Oil & Dehydration has over 100,000 barrels of tank space for receiving, processing, storage and rental.  An onsite certified scale is used to insure accurate record keeping. Although the normal hours are Monday to Friday 7am-5pm, LPOD can run 24 hours a day for larger projects.   LPOD specializes in receiving off spec. streams of petroleum products.  Special processes are used to dehydrate the oil and return it to a consumable product.  What is left is an emulsified layer of water, solids and oil that is used for dust control on farm roads.  LPOD is not a waste facility and cannot accept any streams that shipped as such.  The facility is permitted to bring in products with light ends due to our flaring capabilities.
