SEATTLE (Oil Monster):Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Germany’s RWE have signed a strategic collaboration agreement to explore long-term LNG supply opportunities of up to 1 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to Germany and wider European markets for up to ten years. The partnership will also assess cooperation in LNG trading, regasification capacity across Germany and Europe, and broader opportunities along the gas and LNG value chain.

Separately, Masdar and RWE entered into a memorandum of understanding to identify and pursue battery energy storage system investments in Germany. Additional MoUs were signed between Covestro, Fertiglobe, and TA’ZIZ to explore cooperation in ammonia and sustainable materials, further expanding bilateral industrial collaboration.

The agreements underscore strengthening UAE–Germany energy relations, following ADNOC’s XRG completing a voluntary public takeover offer for Covestro. ADNOC delivered the first Middle East LNG cargo to Germany in 2023 and has since secured multiple LNG supply agreements with German buyers.

The German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to ADNOC’s headquarters on February 6, 2026 highlighted ADNOC’s expanding role in supporting Europe’s energy security and clean energy transition.
