Russia Set to Send Crude and Fuel Cargoes to Cuba Amid Deepening Energy Crisis
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Russia is preparing to dispatch crude oil and refined fuel cargoes to Cuba in the near future, according to the Izvestia newspaper, citing the Russian embassy in Havana. The planned deliveries are expected to come as “humanitarian aid” to help alleviate the Caribbean nation’s severe fuel shortages.

Cuba is grappling with a worsening energy crisis after the United States moved to cut off the island’s traditional oil supply routes, including shipments from longtime ally Venezuela. The fuel crunch has intensified to the point where international airlines have been warned that jet fuel will no longer be available on the island, highlighting the depth of the shortage and its impact on essential services.
Russian officials noted that the last significant delivery of oil to Cuba occurred in February 2025, when Moscow shipped approximately 100,000 metric tons of crude. The forthcoming aid reflects Moscow’s continued support for Havana amid mounting economic pressures and U.S. attempts to limit external fuel assistance.
Kremlin representatives have condemned U.S. measures that have contributed to Cuba’s energy strain and reaffirmed their solidarity with both Cuba and Venezuela, pledging to oppose any military intervention or external interference.
