Transneft Cuts 250,000 bpd After Drone Strike Hits Key Kaleykino Oil Hub
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Russia’s state-controlled pipeline operator Transneft has reduced crude oil intake into its network by around 250,000 barrels per day following a Ukrainian drone strike on the Kaleykino pumping station, according to industry sources familiar with the matter.
The cuts have primarily impacted supplies from Tatarstan-based producer Tatneft. Ukrainian drones reportedly struck the key Kaleykino facility on Monday, triggering a fire at the station, which has a pumping capacity of approximately 1 million barrels per day. The site is located near Almetyevsk in Tatarstan, more than 1,200 kilometers from the Russia-Ukraine border.

Kaleykino is a critical junction in Russia’s oil export infrastructure. Built in the 1970s, it plays a central role in transporting and blending West Siberian crude into the Urals medium-sulphur export blend and the Siberian Light grade. Pipelines from the station feed the Druzhba route to Eastern Europe as well as major export terminals at Novorossiisk and Primorsk, in addition to supplying domestic refineries.
Two 50,000-metric-ton storage tanks reportedly caught fire during the attack. While the full extent of the damage remains unclear, significant disruption could impact Russian export volumes and crude quality, potentially tightening regional supply dynamics.
