Nigeria Crude Output Surges to 5-Year High: NNPC

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Nigeria’s crude oil production has climbed to a five-year high of 1.71 million barrels per day (bpd), according to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), signaling a strong recovery in the country’s upstream sector.

The production figure, recorded between April 2025 and April 2026, was disclosed in the company’s One Year Mandate Report by Group CEO Bayo Ojulari. The firm also reported that its upstream arm, NNPC Exploration and Production Limited, achieved a record output of 565,000 bpd in December 2025.

Beyond oil, NNPC made significant progress in gas infrastructure, including completion of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline segment across the River Niger and commissioning of major processing facilities. Gas supply averaged 7.5 billion standard cubic feet per day in 2025, supported by new agreements with industrial users.

The company also strengthened refining and partnerships by acquiring a 7.25% stake in the Dangote Refinery and advancing key offshore projects. Additional reforms, including new contracts, shipping partnerships, and internal restructuring, underscore efforts to boost efficiency, transparency, and long-term energy sector growth.
