Serbia’s integration into the Southern Gas Corridor—via interconnection with Bulgaria and access to the TAP and TANAP pipelines—has enabled the country to import Azerbaijani gas since 2024. Deliveries have already reached nearly 450 million cubic meters, according to Parviz Shahbazov.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan currently supplies gas to 16 countries, including 10 European Union members, highlighting its expanding role in regional energy security.

The move comes amid declining reliance on Russian gas in Europe, prompting countries like Serbia to strengthen alternative supply partnerships and ensure long-term energy stability.
