SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Houston-based Sempra Infrastructure has announced that it has successfully activated its Port Arthur Pipeline Louisiana Connector project. This marks a significant milestone in expanding U.S. natural gas infrastructure. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, with a total capital expenditures of less than $1 billion.

The newly operational pipeline spans 72 miles and features a 42-inch diameter, capable of transporting up to 2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. The project also includes a compressor station in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana, along with related aboveground and underground infrastructure.

The pipeline is expected to play a critical role in supplying natural gas to the Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 facility, which is currently under construction. Once operational, the liquefied natural gas export terminal is projected to have a nameplate capacity of approximately 13 million tonnes per annum.

In addition to supporting LNG exports, the pipeline enhances energy reliability across the Gulf Coast region. It will have direct connectivity to Sempra Infrastructure's Gillis Hub Pipeline.

Sempra Infrastructure CEO Justin Bird noted that the early completion reflects the company's commitment to advancing critical energy infrastructure while improving supply security for domestic and international markets.
