SEATTLE (Oil Monster): According to the Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Qatar’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) production is expected to return to normal operating levels within a few weeks, reported The Financial Times. The recent disruptions have badly impacted the country’s energy sector, limiting flows to international markets.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of establishing a direct communication hotline between the U.S. and Iran, which he said would help reduce tensions between the two countries and ensure the safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Any disruption in the region is likely to create uncertainties among importing countries, he added.

The hostilities among the U.S., Iran and Israel had resulted in the temporary suspension of Qatar’s LNG operations. The drone attack on Qatar Energy’s LNG production and export hub, the Ras Laffan industrial complex, further escalated the conflict.

A return to normal LNG operations will bring welcome relief to energy consumers across the globe, especially European and Asian countries, which rely heavily on LNG supplies from Qatar. Furthermore, it will restore Qatar’s position as a leading supplier in the international energy market, in addition to delivering stability to global natural gas markets.
