Advanced BioCatalytics Corporation was formed in 1996. In its initial years, the company funded scientific research that resulted in a discovery of certain biological effects that form the core of some of ABC's major breakthrough technologies based on fermentation-derived proteins. This further led to breakthroughs in surfactant synergies technology, where the essential proteins are called Protein-Surfactant Synergists (P-SS™). The breakthrough technologies are covered by granted and pending patents. The company continues to maintain an active research program at its laboratories and through collaboration with other institutions and organizations.

P-SS™ creates new paradigms in green chemistry by improving chemical performance and replacing traditional chemistries that are harmful to the user and the environment.
