Advanced BioCatalytics Corporation was formed in 1996. In its initial years, the company funded scientific research that resulted in a discovery of certain biological effects that form the core of some of ABC's major breakthrough technologies based on fermentation-derived proteins. This further led to breakthroughs in surfactant synergies technology, where the essential proteins are called Protein-Surfactant Synergists (P-SS™). The breakthrough technologies are covered by granted and pending patents. The company continues to maintain an active research program at its laboratories and through collaboration with other institutions and organizations.

P-SS™ creates new paradigms in green chemistry by improving chemical performance and replacing traditional chemistries that are harmful to the user and the environment. ABC bridges the traditionally higher cost of "green" technology by offering lower cost products that perform as well as, and in many cases outperform, traditional technologies.
