SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Edwin Clark, leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) called for judicial inquiry to look into the allegations of crude oil thefts through illegal pipelines across the Delta. The recent report published by the country’s oil regulator had revealed that crude oil thefts have resulted in revenue loss in excess of $1 billion during the initial quarter of 2022 alone.

Speaking at a press conference held in Abuja, Clark noted that the oil theft is being perpetuated by powerful syndicate groups who use sophisticated engineering methods to steal crude oil. These activities have been taking place under the eyes of military and security personnel, which suggests their potential involvement in these criminal acts.

The PANDEF leader demanded a full, open and comprehensive investigation to unravel the culprits behind the anti-national act. The probe must expose all those who are involved in the act, including military personnel, if any. It must be carried out in such a way that there is no discrimination against the people of Niger Delta, he added.
