Chevron Announced Maintenance Schedule for Offshore Gas Platform
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Chevron Mediterranean Limited- a subsidiary of U.S. energy major Chevron announced maintenance schedule for its offshore gas production platform near Israel.
As per company announcement, the one-day scheduled maintenance work at the Tamar production platform offshore Israel took place on 21st February, 2024 (yesterday). In order to ensure safety during maintenance operations, the flare boom had conducted controlled release of natural gas.

Chevron assured that the flaring will not cause environmental or health issues to the nearby community. It noted that flaring is an industry-standard safety device which is used to relieve pressure and help keep equipment and plants operating safely.
The scheduled maintenance follows the company’s recent decision to go ahead with the second phase of the project aimed at significantly boosting the natural gas output from the Tamar gas field. The second phase comprises of laying of a 150-kilometer pipeline from the Tamar field to the platform and is expected to be completed next year. The projected combined investment for both the phases of the project is $673 million, said company sources.
The other partners of the Tamar project are Noble Energy, Isramco, Tamar Petroleum, Mubadala Energy, Tamar Investment 2, Dor Gas and Everest.
