Ukraine Natural Gas Imports Witnessed Notable Surge
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The natural gas imports by Ukraine witnessed notable jump during the previous week, though it continued to lag behind target.
The country's overall gas imports increased by about 30% last week to reach about 21 million cubic meters per day by Monday, according to the most recent shipping statistics made public by Ukrainian gas transmission company TSOUA. A significant increase in flows through a cross-border connector with Slovakia was the primary driver of this. At the beginning of the week, gas imports from Poland and Hungary were approximately 16.5 MMcmd.

One of the main ways that the nation fills its natural gas storage facilities before winter arrives is through gas imports. According to calculations, Ukraine must have at least 9 billion cubic meters of gas stored in its subterranean storage facilities by November 1st in order to meet the country's abnormally high winter demand. By the end of April this year, the nation's natural gas storage has grown by around 700 million cubic meters, reaching approximately 1.8 Bcm of gas, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe.
Hungary is anticipated to continue serving as Ukraine's principal gas supplier in the near future. Poland and Slovakia are also expected to enhance their gas flows to the nation. Furthermore, Ukraine anticipates that gas will go via Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and Moldova via the Trans-Balkan pipeline to the country's Black Sea coast.
