EIA Weekly Report: U.S. Crude Oil Inventories Surged

The crude oil in the SPR recorded marginal increase from 402.5 million barrels to 402.8 million barrels week-on-week.

SEATTLE (Oil Monster):U.S. commercial crude oil stocks, excluding those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), rose by 3.8 million barrels week over week during the week ending June 27, 2025, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration's (EIA) most recent weekly petroleum status report.

The report states that as of June 27, the total amount of crude oil stocks, excluding the SPR, was 419.0 million barrels. In contrast, 415.1 million barrels were in stock the week ending June 20, 2025. At this time of year, U.S. crude oil stockpiles are almost 9% lower than the five-year average.

On average, 17.1 million barrels of crude oil were fed into the refinery per day. Additionally, last week's refineries ran at 94.9% of their operable capacity. U.S. crude oil imports averaged 6.9 million barrels per day last week, up 976,000 barrels per day from the week before.

Week over week, the SPR's crude oil production increased slightly, from 402.5 million barrels to 402.8 million barrels. As of June 27, total petroleum stockpiles have increased 9.6 million barrels per week to 1.642 billion barrels.

The average daily production of gasoline was 9.6 million barrels, which was less than the previous week. Compared to the previous week, the total motor gasoline stockpiles rose by 4.2 million barrels.
