Mozambique Reached Final Investment Decision on Coral North FLNG Project
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Mozambique has given final approval for the development of Coral North Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG), located in the Rovuma Basin’s Area 4, off the coast of Cabo Delgado Province. Top executives from participating enterprises and senior government officials attended the signing-in ceremony in Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique.
The FLNG will have a liquefaction capacity of roughly 3.55 million tons annually and be situated in ultra-deep waters. It will process gas from the northern portion of the Coral field using cutting-edge offshore LNG technology. By 2028, the FLNG should be operational.
Eni Group, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), Mozambique's state-owned oil business ENH, and XRG—a division of the Abu Dhabi National Oil business (ADNOC), based in the United Arab Emirates—are the project's partners.
When combined with the already-existing Coral South FLNG project, the Coral North FLNG will increase the nation's annual capacity for LNG production to over 7 million tons. As a result, it will rank as Africa's third-largest LNG exporter. It is anticipated that the growth of Coral North will treble the nation's LNG production.
