Badawi said the core objective of the plan is to achieve crude oil self-sufficiency while maintaining steady growth in natural gas production. He emphasized that close collaboration with international partners has been instrumental in reversing declines in gas output, helping stabilize production at around 4.2 billion cubic feet per day.

The minister also underscored the government’s intention to expand downstream and value-added activities, including petrochemicals, fertilizers, and liquefied natural gas exports, as part of a broader effort to ease pressure on Egypt’s energy import bill.

According to Badawi, achieving these goals will require fresh investment frameworks, competitive incentives, and wider deployment of advanced drilling and production technologies. The meeting reviewed exploration targets, measures to enhance the investment climate, and technical approaches being implemented with partners to support long-term production growth.
