Azerbaijan Boosts Gas Supplies to Europe as Southern Gas Corridor Capacity Expands

SEATTLE (Oil Monster):Azerbaijan has boosted its natural gas exports to Europe by 56% since 2021, reinforcing its role in regional energy security, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov announced at the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council in Baku on March 3.

The event, which also hosted the 4th Green Energy Advisory Council meeting, gathered delegates from more than 27 countries and 49 international companies.

Shahbazov stated that while the world is entering an “era of electricity,” natural gas will remain a cornerstone of global energy security for decades. Azerbaijan’s total gas exports reached 25.2 billion cubic meters in 2025, with over half delivered to the European Union.

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline recently expanded capacity by 1.2 billion cubic meters, and four new projects are planned, including first non-associated gas output from the Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli block.

Investment momentum strengthened with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) joining the Southern Corridor’s capital structure. Azerbaijan is also advancing renewables, targeting 8 gigawatts of new capacity and promoting green corridors linking the Caspian region to Europe, alongside strategic cooperation with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
