Gazprom reports drone attack on TurkStream gas pipeline infrastructure
SEATTLE (Oil Monster):Gazprom reported a fresh drone attack on infrastructure linked to the TurkStream gas pipeline, highlighting escalating risks to Europe’s already strained energy supply network. According to the company, three Ukrainian drones targeted the Russkaya compressor station in Russia’s Krasnodar region, a key facility supporting gas flows through the Black Sea route.
Russian authorities stated that air defense systems successfully intercepted the drones, preventing damage to critical infrastructure. The Defense Ministry also reported intercepting a total of 147 drones across multiple regions overnight. There was no immediate response from Ukraine regarding the incident.
The TurkStream pipeline remains the only operational route for Russian pipeline gas exports to Europe following the disruption of other corridors after the 2022 conflict. Recent weeks have seen repeated attempts to strike energy assets, including both TurkStream and Blue Stream facilities, intensifying geopolitical tensions.
The latest developments come amid surging European natural gas prices, driven by broader supply disruptions, including instability in the Middle East. Analysts warn that continued attacks on energy infrastructure could further tighten supply, increase price volatility, and heighten uncertainty across global energy markets.
