Equinor Starts Gas Production at Eirin in Norwegian North Sea

The dip in production comes despite the launch of new production capacity by Equinor from the Eirin gas field. It must be noted that Eirin has become commercially viable after Europe’s increased demand for Norwegian gas following the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The Eirin gas field in the North Sea is expected to boost Norway's capacity to export to Europe.  Also, it will extend the production life of the Gina Krog platform by seven years to 2036.

Meanwhile, Norway’s oil production remained strong, averaging 1.94 million barrels per day in April, up 6.5% year-on-year and 7.5% above forecasts.
