Egypt Crude Oil Production Reaches Two-Year Peak in H1 2026 as Petroleum Exports Surge

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Egypt has recorded its strongest crude oil production level in almost two years during the first half of 2026, mainly driven by higher refinery activity and a sharp increase in petroleum product exports.

According to Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi, the country exported more than 2.3 million tonnes of petroleum products between January and June this year, which is almost equal to the total export volume recorded throughout 2025. Shipments of jet fuel, naphtha, waxes, and vacuum distillates generated approximately $2.3 billion in export earnings during the six months.

The government expects exports to climb further in the second half of the year, with volumes projected to reach 2.5 million tonnes. The increased production across several major refining facilities, coupled with improved refinery efficiency, is anticipated to accelerate the jump in exports. 

The Cairo Oil Refining Company has expanded monthly production by an additional 45,000 tonnes of gasoline and 40,000 tonnes of jet fuel. The Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemicals Company is operating above its designed capacity. The Amreya Petroleum Refining Company has boosted monthly output of 92-octane gasoline by up to 15,000 tonnes. Also, MIDOR and the Alexandria Petroleum Company have been reporting higher operating rates.
