Sapphire Gas Solutions has acquired assets from Spectrum LNG, including the Desert Gas LNG Plant in Ehrenberg, Arizona, and an expansion site in Stroud, Oklahoma.

Sapphire Adds LNG Assets in the Southwest

MONTREAL (Oil Monster): Sapphire Gas Solutions announced the acquisition of assets from small-scale liquefied natural gas producer Spectrum LNG. The move is expected to strengthen the company’s distributed energy business across the U.S. Southwest and Southern California while expanding its LNG operations.

The transaction includes the Desert Gas LNG Plant in Ehrenberg, Arizona, along with an expansion site in Stroud, Oklahoma.

Desert Gas Plant Adds LNG Production Capacity

Located near the Arizona-California border, the Desert Gas plant has about 100,000 gallons of LNG storage capacity and can produce approximately 76,000 gallons per day.

The facility receives natural gas from TC Energy’s North Baja pipeline and supplies municipal, commercial, and industrial customers across the region.

Acquisition Supports Sapphire’s Integrated Strategy

Sapphire CEO Sam Thigpen said the acquisition supports the company’s vertically integrated strategy, allowing it to manage production, transportation, and delivery of natural gas to end users.

The company expects the expanded platform to create additional opportunities through contracts with municipalities, industrial customers, and other users.

Sapphire Builds on Recent Expansion

Earlier this year, Sapphire acquired EDGE LNG. In addition, it entered into a strategic partnership with infrastructure investor Antin Infrastructure Partners.

Headquartered in Conroe, Texas, Sapphire operates in 30 states and serves more than 120 customers across diverse natural gas markets.
