Norway’s Natural Gas Output Dipped in First Nine Months of 2025
SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Norway’s natural gas production averaged 326.26 million standard cubic meters per day (MMscmd) during the first nine months of 2025, marking a 4.4% decline from 341.25 MMscmd recorded during the same period last year, according to preliminary data from the Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD).
In September 2025, the country’s gas output was estimated at 282.1 MMscmd, representing a 15.6% month-on-month decrease compared to August. The September figures also came in below NOD’s production forecast.
Meanwhile, Norway’s gas sales totaled 8.5 billion standard cubic meters (scm) in September, down 1.9 billion scm from the previous month.

Despite the decline, Norway remained Europe’s leading gas supplier in the first quarter of 2025, accounting for 31% of total EU gas imports, according to the European Commission’s latest quarterly gas market report. The country also continued to dominate as the EU’s top pipeline gas supplier, representing 55% of total pipeline deliveries.
On the oil front, Norway’s crude production averaged 1.82 million barrels per day (MMbpd) in September 2025, down 7% from August, but 5.4% above NOD’s estimates. The country’s total liquids production reached 1.99 MMbpd, reflecting a 7.8% month-on-month decline.
