ADNOC L&S to Order Six LNG Carriers for Global Expansion

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S), the maritime shipping arm of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), is preparing to order up to six new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers as it accelerates expansion into the global gas trading market.

CEO Abdulkareem Al Masabi confirmed that the company intends to place orders for four to six LNG carriers within the year, although contract values have not yet been disclosed.

The planned vessels will complement ADNOC L&S’s existing portfolio of 14 LNG carriers supporting UAE export projects. The fleet expansion aligns with ADNOC’s strategy to strengthen its global gas asset base, as the UAE positions natural gas as a core pillar of long-term economic growth. Greater shipping capacity will allow ADNOC to market cargoes more flexibly in spot and short-term international markets, rather than relying predominantly on long-term supply contracts.

ADNOC L&S is already scaling up deliveries. Two LNG carriers are scheduled for delivery in 2026, adding to four units already received for operations at Das Island. Eight additional vessels will serve the Ruwais LNG terminal, slated for completion in 2028.

The new building push is expected to intensify competition among major Chinese and South Korean shipyards.
