bp Starts Gas Production at Angola’s Quiluma Field

SEATTLE (Oil Monster):bp has confirmed the start-up of gas production from the Quiluma field in Angola, marking a significant milestone for the New Gas Consortium (NGC) project operated by Azule Energy. The venture, a 50:50 joint partnership between bp and Eni, continues to deliver strong operational progress across its upstream portfolio.

Initial output from the offshore Quiluma field is expected to reach 150 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d), with production set to ramp up to 330 mmscf/d by the end of 2026. The NGC project represents Angola’s first non-associated gas development, with gas processed onshore before being supplied to the Angola LNG facility for export.

Azule Energy holds a 37.4% operating stake in the project, alongside partners including Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, Sonangol E&P, and TotalEnergies. The initiative is seen as a key step in strengthening Angola’s energy mix and expanding its global gas market presence.

The Quiluma start-up follows a series of recent developments by Azule, including new project launches and multiple hydrocarbon discoveries since 2025, reinforcing its growth trajectory and long-term production outlook.
