MONTREAL (Oil Monster): Horizon Petroleum has completed the mechanical phase of its Lachowice 7 (L7) gas well workover in southern Poland, clearing the way for re-perforation, acid stimulation and production testing of the Upper Devonian reservoir.

What the Lachowice 7 Workover Has Shown

The company successfully milled and recovered the downhole packer and completion equipment installed when the well was suspended in 1999.

During the operation, more than 200 m³ of completion fluid was lost to the formation and natural gas entered the wellbore. The gas was controlled and cleared, with no further incursion reported.

Horizon said the fluid losses indicate that existing perforations into the naturally fractured Devonian carbonate reservoir remain open. The company said the gas encountered during the workover also confirmed the presence of natural gas.

The company now plans to re-perforate approximately 65 m of gross reservoir interval before installing the final completion string.
