MONTREAL (Oil Monster): Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has laid the foundation stone for TAQA Arabia’s 14-kilometer natural gas pipeline serving Al-Rawdah Industrial City in the Ma’an Development Area.
The project marks TAQA Arabia’s expansion into the Jordanian market and is intended to provide manufacturers with a more reliable and competitively priced source of energy.
Al-Rawdah Pipeline Expected to Take 18 Months
The Al-Rawdah project is expected to be completed within 18 months, according to Jordan’s Prime Ministry.
The government valued the project at approximately 10 million Jordanian dinars and said it is being supported through a UAE grant provided by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
The pipeline is expected to strengthen Al-Rawdah Industrial City’s competitiveness, improve its attractiveness to investors, support national exports and help create employment opportunities in the surrounding area.
Project Forms Part of $70 Million Industrial Gas Program
The Al-Rawdah development is one of two natural gas supply projects covering the Al-Rawdah and Al-Muwaqqar industrial cities.
The two projects are being financed through a $70 million initiative backed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development under Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision.
Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources signed the implementation contracts in August 2026 as part of the government’s wider effort to expand natural gas infrastructure for industrial areas.
The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development said the projects are designed to strengthen Jordan’s energy infrastructure, reduce production costs and improve the competitiveness of the country’s industrial sector.
Natural Gas Could Lower Industrial Energy Costs
Jordan has been expanding natural gas access to industrial cities as part of a broader effort to reduce manufacturers’ dependence on more expensive petroleum fuels.
The Prime Ministry said the government’s industrial gas strategy is intended to reduce energy costs for industries by approximately 35% to 60%.
Jordan’s Energy Ministry has previously said natural gas can reduce energy costs by about 35% compared with diesel and by more than 50% compared with heavy fuel in certain industrial applications.
TAQA Arabia Expands Into Jordan
TAQA Arabia said the 14-kilometer pipeline represents a key step in its regional expansion and is intended to provide manufacturers in the Ma’an Development Area with a reliable natural gas supply.
TAQA Arabia Group CEO Pakinam Kafafi said when the contracts were signed that Jordan represents a promising and strategically important market for the company.
The company said it plans to apply its infrastructure-development experience to support Jordan’s industrial sector and broader economic development.

Established in 2006 and headquartered in Cairo, TAQA Arabia develops and operates energy infrastructure across natural gas transmission and distribution, conventional and renewable power generation, petroleum-product marketing and other utility services.
