Dominion Energy Requests Natural Gas Price Increase

SEATTLE (Oil Monster):  A small price hike may be coming to your natural gas bill. Dominion Energy Utah, the natural gas utility company is requesting a $19.5 million increase in rates. 

According to the utility company, the average monthly bill would increase $1.22 starting on April 1, but it first has to be approved by the Public Service Commission of Utah.

The company says the increase is necessary to cover the changes in the cost of purchasing natural gas for customers in Utah. They say "no markup" is made and it does not impact their profit margin. 

"As a result, we're paying more for the market gas we purchase for our customers during these cold winter months. Fortunately, our company-owned supplies helped minimize some of the impact when market prices spiked; otherwise, our request would have resulted in a higher increase," said Colleen Bell, in a press release.
