EMA and JERA Signed MoU on LNG Procurement

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore and JERA Co., Inc. (JERA)- Japan’s leading utility company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate on LNG procurement and supply chains between the two countries.

Under the terms of the MoU, both the parties will share best practices and knowledge in LNG procurement and LNG supply chain management. Furthermore, it will explore additional collaboration opportunities in LNG procurement and supply chain management.

The MoU is considered as an extension to the Memorandum of Cooperation on LNG Cooperation and Energy Transitions signed between the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan in late 2022, which too is aimed at strengthening the ties between the two countries.

Mr Soh Sai Bor, Assistant Chief Executive, EMA noted that the MoU is another step forward in Singapore’s efforts to enhance the security and reliability of natural gas supply.

Meantime, Mr. Ryosuke Tsugaru, Senior Managing Executive Officer and Chief Low Carbon Fuel Officer, JERA stated that the MoU demonstrates the shared commitment of both the parties towards strengthening energy security and fostering mutual cooperation in LNG procurement.
