Equinor Signed 15-Year LNG Agreement with Indian Company

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Norway-based energy major Equinor has signed a 15-year agreement towards supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) with leading Indian fertilizer and petrochemical company, Deepak Fertilizers. Per agreement, the supplies will commence in 2026.

The supply to the company will be mainly from Equinor’s LNG portfolio comprising of the LNG Plant in Hammerfest, Norway and LNG supply sourced mainly from the US. The agreement is towards supply of nearly 0.65 million tons of LNG for a period of fifteen years starting from 2026.

The supplied natural gas will be used by Deepak Fertilizers as a feedstock for ammonia production at its newly commissioned plant. The ammonia produced from natural gas will be used domestically.

Helge Haugane, Equinor’s senior vice president for Gas & Power stated that the agreement demonstrates how the company uses its position in the Atlantic basin to strengthen its relationship with key players in the growing Indian market. The company looks forward to develop its relationship with Deepak Fertilizers and explore collaboration on other petrochemical feedstocks such as propane, ethane and low carbon ammonia in future, he added.
