SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Egypt’s Khalda Petroleum announced plans to bring two new wells into production during the current month. The wells are projected to have an estimated output of around 5,400 barrels of crude oil per day (bbl/d).
The move is part of the efforts by the country’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to accelerate exploration and production activities, with the aim of delivering significant boost to domestic production of crude oil and natural gas, thereby helping the country meet its requirements without depending on imports.
The completion of drilling operations for the Fox Deep-02 appraisal well had unveiled oil-bearing layers in both the Alam El-Bueib and Alamein reservoirs. As per reports, the thickness of the oil-bearing layer is around 110 feet. The initial test results carried out at the Alam El-Bueib layer suggest a production rate of nearly 2,600 bbl/d of crude oil. The well is expected to reach full production further to finalization of the installation of an artificial lift pump.
In addition, the company had completed drilling operations for the Tayim-W14 development well, with an oil-bearing Dessouky layer in the upper part of the reservoir. The thickness of the layer is about 57 feet, with a production rate of 2,800 bbl/d of crude oil, as per initial test results.
