SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The Mexican natural gas production continued to surge in the month of February this year, for the second month in a row this year. It must be noted that the production has been on an uptrend since 2022.
The domestic natural gas output averaged at 4.29 Bcf/d in February this year, significantly higher when compared with 3.94 Bcf/d output in February last year. Also, the production during the month was higher upon comparison with 4.25 Bcf/d in January 2023, said the data released by the upstream regulator.
Meantime, the production from private sector operators averaged 214 MMcf/d in February. Also, associated gas accounted for 2.378 Bcf/d of total natural gas output by the country during the month.
The top five natural gas producing fields during the month were Quesqui, Ixachi, Akal, Maloob and Ku, all being operated by Pemex. Quesqui and Ixachi fields recorded notable growth during the month.
In February 2022, Mexico’s oil production stood at 1.642 million b/d. This compares to 1.634 million b/d in the same month a year before. Private sector oil output accounted for 100,000 b/d of the total production, said Comision Nacional de Hidrocarburos (CNH) in its monthly data sheet.
