OPEC: India’s Oil Demand in 2025 to Double China’s Pace

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): According to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries' (OPEC) most recent monthly Oil Market Report, India is anticipated to have the fastest growth in oil demand among the world's major economies in 2025 and 2026.

It is anticipated that the nation's oil consumption will increase by 3.39%, from 5.55 million barrels per day (bpd) in 2024 to 5.74 million bpd in 2025. It is anticipated that the demand would increase by a further 4.28% year to reach 5.99 million barrels per day in 2026. Given that the country's energy needs are expected to increase, India is expected to play a significant impact in patterns of oil consumption worldwide.

According to the contract, China's oil demand is expected to increase by barely 1.5% this year and then by 1.25% in 2026. China is predicted to be the world's second-largest oil user, behind the United States, despite the country's demand growth being slower than expected. In 2025 and 2026, the United States is expected to see a minor increase in demand of 0.09% and 0.6%, respectively.

The OPEC report projects that China's oil demand will be 16.90 million barrels per day in 2025, while the United States' will be 20.5 million barrels per day. India will continue to be the world's third-largest consumer of oil in the meanwhile.

OPEC projects that global oil demand would increase by 1.3 million barrels per day in 2025 and 2026.
