SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) and Petronas LNG, a division of Malaysia's state-owned energy corporation, announced their partnership with the goal of deepening their cooperation in the LNG industry. Japan's energy security will be further strengthened by the alliance.

To guarantee better gas supplies to Japan, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with the goal of deepening their cooperation in the LNG industry. The MoC was signed at an event held in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur by Shamsairi Mohd Ibrahim, Vice President of LNG Marketing & Trading at Petronas, and Hiroyuki Mori, Executive Vice President of Energy Business at JOGMEC.
"The MoC is a testament to its role as a reliable LNG supplier to Japan since 1983," Ibrahim said. The agreement is in line with the Energy Asia summit's spirit, which emphasized the need for further regional cooperation to improve the energy stability of the area.
JOGMEC and the Italian energy behemoth Eni had previously collaborated on a project to reduce GHG emissions from LNG. An MOU was signed by the two organizations to work together in the LNG and gas industries.
