TotalEnergies Diversified Presence in the Caribbean Region Beyond LNG

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The well-known French multinational energy company TotalEnergies declared that it had greatly increased the scope of its partnership with AES by purchasing sizeable shares in AES's renewable energy portfolios in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

The aforementioned deal will assist the business in expanding its reach beyond liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Caribbean. It is a calculated step by the business to strengthen its ties to battery storage and renewable energy in the Caribbean, where it has long been a major LNG player.

A news release states that TotalEnergies has successfully acquired a 50% share in the whole range of solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) offered by AES Dominica Renewables Energy. It had purchased a 30% share in AES's Puerto Rico-based solar and storage development earlier in 2024. It is now anticipated that the combined portfolio will produce about 2.5 TWh of power annually.

Stephane Michel, President of Gas, Renewables, and Power at TotalEnergies, commented on the development, saying that the business is happy to work with AES to broaden its multi-energy strategy.
